Overview
Our team worked with Hoosiers for a Commonsense Health Plan, a grassroots community organization whose mission is a single-payer health plan for Indiana, to develop a strategic design plan. The plan included both short and long term design options for the organization.

Process
To understand the organization, we attended HCHP meetings and spoke with members. We also worked with organizers and the web designer to understand HCHP's immediate needs and long term goals. From there, we brainstormed ideas to further the mission of the organization and strengthen the organization. Taking our best ideas, we created a strategic design plan and presented it to HCHP. The hope is that the organization can use our plan as a blueprint or guideline as HCHP continues to look for ways to expand.

Design plan
Our design recommendations were based on both the immediate needs of the organization as well as the future goals of HCHP. We included short term recommendations that could be completed with limited effort and long term recommendations that require more resources (i.e. volunteers) than are currently available.

Some elements of the design plan included:
  • updates to the current website
  • web redesign to facilitate increased membership
  • interactive video of current presentation
  • combining committee meetings to encourage attendance
